Kirsch, Dirk-Michael Trio Pastoral op. 12 Flute, Cor Anglaise and piano
Dirk-Michael Kirsch's Trio Pastoral op. 12 was composed 1998-2004; it was originally meant to be in one movement for varying combi- nations (in the present ultimate version the last movement - Final), namely for oboe, cello and piano or for flute, viola and harp. In both these combinations the work has had several performances, until the unexpected death of Ursula Fleck, his first piano teacher, has prompted the composer to expand the piece to a three-movement trio. This definitive version for flute, cor anglais and piano is meant to be an essay on the dedicatees personal character as well as a posthumous declaration of friendship for her, but at the same time also a composition for the trio LuDiAl, of which the composer himself is a member.
