Brydern - Silent Movie for flute quartet

Music for a film that doesn't exist? Or is it? With the composition “Silent Movie” the listener and musician can put together their own cinema in their heads.

There are no limits to your imagination.

Quiet, sometimes romantic or nostalgic moments alternate with furious and playful scenes, which are   consistently reminiscent of numerous silent films with Charles Chaplin or Buster Keaton, or a bit of the film world of Federico Fellini.

In the early days of film production, the "Silent Movies", music played a very important role in bringing the emotions of the actors and the stories closer to the audience. Sound and dialogue were not yet coupled with the picture.

The four equal flutes show their timbres and technical possibilities without penetrating too much into the “experimental” avant-garde. Accessible modern music, but still exciting and playable for the demanding amateur and professional musician.
