Narooma, South Coast NSW, Australia. Blue skies, aqua water, sea life, sand and sun. Surrounded by oceans, lakes and rivers, Narooma is a rhapsody in blue. The name Narooma is said to be derived from a word in the local Aboriginal language meaning ‘clear blue waters’. This coastal community is found 5 hours south of Sydney and is rich in natural beauty. As you drive over the bridge into Narooma, you will be met with sparkling turquoise waters of the Wagonga inlet. Pelicans, fish, sting rays, seals, boats and oyster sheds dot the foreshore. Several breathtaking beaches line the coastline where you can surf, swim, or sit on the sand and admire the ancient rock formations of the Glasshouse rocks and pillow lava. ‘Narooma’ for solo flute captures the essence of this incredible place. The opening section is reminiscent of the sounds of the ocean swell meeting the shore, and the lilt of the main melody may transport you to the gentle rocking of boats on the sapphire water
