The G Major Rondo (originally in F) exists in two piano versions. It was initially composed as an isolated piano piece in 1786. Then a year later, in need of a third movement to finish his F Major Piano Sonata, K. 533, Mozart reworked this Rondo, adapting it to the highly contrapuntal style of his last and perhaps greatest Sonata.
