Six Sonatas for 3 Flutes op. 7, Vol. 2 Joseph Bodin De Boismortier's Six Sonatas for Three Flutes op. 7, Volume 2 contains Sonatas Nos. 2 in B minor, 5 in G major, and 6 in E minor. Written in 1725, These trio sonatas can also be performed by oboe or violin, as well as flute, and range in difficulty from easy to intermediate. 'These Six Sonatas for three flutes...are characterized by a highly individualized charm and elegance. They are written in the various forms of his time: certain movements for instance, are examples of 'Douceur francaise'; the Fifth Sonata is composed in the Italian style; Allemandes and Gavottes are set in their contemporary styles. All three instrumental parts are treated equally; though the original mentions only flutes, they can be performed equally well on violins or oboes, or in mixed combination.' - Erich Doflein, 1960 |
