Written in the months leading up to the outbreak of the First World War, Elgar had originally intended Sospiri to be a light companion piece to Salut d’Amour. What emerged however was a heartfelt bleak adagio on a par with the slow movements of his symphonies. Arranged here forPiano, Flute, Oboe, Clarinet & Bassoonby Martin Gatt.
