Description:

Two Pieces Volume I, La Jota Aragonesa and Souvenir de la Havane by Louis Moreau Gottschalk arranged for Flute, Clarinet and Piano by Michael Webster. International Music Co., 2016, SS, includes parts and piano score. Louis Moreau Gottschalk (1829-1869) was an American composer and pianist, best known as a virtuoso performer of his own romantic piano works. He spent most of his working career outside of the United States. La Jota Aragonesa (Caprice Espagnol, Op. 14) is a famous Spanish tune (also used by other composers) cleverly and virtuosically embellished. Souvenir de la Havane (Grand Caprice de Concert, Op. 39) was written in 1859 in the Antilles. It is the earliest example the arranger has found of a habenera as the form of a concert piece. These pieces are at an advanced college level.
